The Truth About Organic Foods

Red Book claims that the reason people buy organic foods is that we want food that is natural and better for the environment. The main idea of the article is to inform people who have questions about organic foods. the viewpoint of this article is that a person should try to buy organic foods when they can.

The word choices  in the article helped me figure out the view point. For instance, the connotation of the word 'reasonably' is that organic foods are reasonably priced most of the time in farmers markets so the article says you should buy them whenever you can. This is important to consider, because a big reason why a person would or wouldn't buy organic foods could be the price.

Mostly the website talks about good aspects about organic foods and a little bit about conventionally grown foods. This slants my opinion because I don't know that much about what nutrients conventionally grown food could give me. However, the article does say a little about the good and bad things about conventionally grown foods.

Understanding Organic Food Lables, Benifits, and Claims

The article by Help Guides claims that organic foods has become very popular in many parts of the world. The main idea of this article is to inform people and to answer any frequently asked questions about organic foods.

The view point of the article is that organic foods have more benefits than conventionally grown food.
The word choices in this article helped me figure out the viewpoint. For example the connotation of the word 'beneficial' is that organic foods have more advantages for a person then conventionally grown foods. This is important to think about, especially if a person wanting to buy organic foods is pregnant or has children because one of the benefits is that they don't have pesticides.

This article mostly has the positive aspects of organic foods, but there are probably some negative aspects that they don't show in the article. This slants my opinion, because I only know the positive effects and not the negative effects about organic foods. However the article provides conflicting evidence, because it explains in some ways that conventionally grown food and organic foods have some of the same nutrition and benefits.

Organic foods: Are they safer? More nutritious?

The Mayo Clinic staff states that the big difference between regular and organic foods is nutrition, safety,
and price. The main idea of the article  is to inform people about the difference between organic
foods and conventional (or regular) foods. In this article there is a big amount of  facts and not a big
amount of opinions. The website the article is on is Mayo Clinic which is a very well known and trusted site.

The article mostly states the differences between conventionally grown foods and organic foods. It has positive and negative aspects of organic foods and of conventionally grown foods. It
slants my opinion because there are more positive points about organic food and more negative points about conventionally grown food.

For example in the article its says about organic foods that they "Apply natural fertilizers, such as manure or compost, to feed soil and plants.", and about conventionally grown food that they "Apply chemical fertilizers to promote plant growth." Even though these are both facts, it makes organic foods sound better because it says that organic food is grown with natural fertilizers and conventionally grown foods are grown with chemical fertilizers.

However, the author does say some good things about conventionally grown food and some
bad things about organic foods. Overall this website shows a good amount of facts on both types of food.
